Groove Tok&Stok
Developed as part of the Visual Design program at ESPM São Paulo, in collaboration with João Vitor Rossetti Alves.
Category: surface design.
The Tok&Stok Challenge was to create a print design for the brand's bedding and tableware collection, interpreting the Urban Kaleidocolor trend and translating its essence into a contemporary visual language.
During the research phase, we realized that the strength of this trend extended beyond the aesthetics of the 1980s. Its true essence lay in the creative energy and artistic expression that defined the decade. Guided by this insight, we explored references from music, graffiti, and urban art, building a visual repertoire inspired by icons such as Freddie Mercury, Madonna, and Keith Haring.
The result was Groove, a print created through hands-on experimentation with India ink and handmade pens, exploring spontaneous gestures and expressive marks inspired by composers' musical sketches. The final composition translates rhythm, repetition, and the expressive nature of music into a contemporary graphic language.
More than following a trend, the project transformed cultural references into an original visual identity, resulting in a versatile print full of personality for Tok&Stok's product line. The project was recognized as one of the Top 10 entries in the 8th Tok&Stok + ESPM-SP Design Challenge.
